Vittles Films, LLC was founded on a front porch in Durham, North Carolina with the idea in mind that every recipe has a history, that a shared plate brings people together and that food—how we eat it and how we grow it— tells us a lot about where we are and where we’re headed.

Appalachian Food Storybank Project
The Appalachian Food Storybank, a program of Slow Food Asheville, seeks to acknowledge, honor, and archive Appalachian heritage foods and foodways in order to promote the preservation of diverse local knowledges, natural resources, and food biodiversity.

Amy K Coplen’s interest in urban agriculture and love for oral history inspired her to collect these stories from New Haven’s community gardeners. This project is a collaboration with the Land Trust Alliance and the New Haven Land Trust. Amy is also interested in the stories of young farmers and artists/guerrilla gardeners.
