Stories from a Slow Food Nation

Submit Your Story

We hope that you will consider submitting your story!

We can feature several different formats written accounts with photos, audio recordings with photos, original art, and short videos.

Written stories
Written stories should be personal narratives or features written about someone close to you. It should be about 700 words, submitted with at least two photos.

Audio and video
Audio and video shorts can be up to 5 minutes in length. They can be self-recorded or created in an interview format.

Original art
Pieces of art and contact information should be submitted to the email address below. These submissions will be discussed directly with the artist.

Consider one or two of the prompts below to help structure your story:

  • What food connects you to your home, or to your history? Is there a food item or culture in your community that doesn’t exist anywhere else?
  • How does your food reflect your ethnic and/or geographic culture? Was this an adopted or inherited culture?
  • How are your food choices influenced by your environment or community?

For text files, please send an email to StoryProject@slowfoodusa.org. Send larger media files to the same address using Dropbox.
